TileProxy and FSX: Over Marble Canyon,ArizonaBefore Proceeding:Please Note: I am not the author of the TileProxy program.I'mjust an enthusiastic fan who created this 'Quick Guide'in the hopes it may helpmore FS enthusiasts get up and running in a jiffy. The credit goes to who conceived, designed, and createdTileProxy. His ongoing dedication to it's development and evolution, and his tireless hours spent improving upon it and updating it have given thousands of FS enthusiasts around the world what we have longed for since FS first began: The Real Planet Earth to discover and explore. The at Avsim is dedicated exclusively to the program. There you can get help, ask questions, and share your TP experiences if so inspired. If you have any questions about TP, the forum is the place to get answers. Christian (user name 'cbuchner1') monitors the forum regularly along with many other enthusiastic and experienced users from around the world, most of whom are happy to lend a hand to those who may need it.If you're new to TP, have questions, or have just discovered a fantastic place to fly or explore, drop in and introduce yourself.Happy Landings,Important Announcement:To All TP Users:This tutorial and the files contained herein refer only to installations of the TileProxy Beta 8 version, (Beta 8 was released on; the November 16th, 2008 build is the currently available version).
All previous versions (Beta 7 and before) of TileProxy are no longer supported by either the TileProxy author, Christian Buchner, nor the authors of this tutorial. For more information concerning this, please see the Christian's formal announcement of the Beta 8 version here:(from the TP manual)It Is Essential That You.TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS TUTORIAL CAREFULLY.INIT'SENTIRETY.Many common first time setup problems are addressed in the pages and sub-pages below. Please read them carefully, including the 'Some Tips and Troubleshooting' section after the tutorial. Trust me, it will save you a lot of headaches further down the line.SinceTileProxy is an ongoing Beta phase project which is frequentlybeingupdated andimproved upon, this tutorial and the downloads it provideswill be updated to accommodate and provide for these improvements. It's therefore a good ideato check back frequently at both the and here to be kept abreastof updates and the nature of these improvements and newfeatures asTileProxydevelopment progresses.Also.when you can.take the time to read the too. You'll learn more about TP than you ever wanted to know.A Brief FAQ:WHAT ISTILEPROXY?Created asFREEWARE by, it's a real-time interface between Microsoft'sFlight Simulator X and the Internet. It willdownload photo-terrain textures from online map services by actingas a proxyserver and fileformat converter. This tool turns yourFlight Simulator into an interactive 3D map browser unlike anything youhave experienced before. In FSX resolution levels of up to 30cm per pixelcan now be achieved.
It may also be used with Flight Simulator 2004(FS9) though texture resolutionis limited to 4.75 meters per pixel, (as pictured above.still verynice!). With the latest version (Beta 8) Dual Core (and above)PC's now experience veryfastloadtimesin FSX.For oldermachines, FS9 will enjoy faster load times than FSX however.Recent versions of TileProxy now also includeglobalwatermasksso FSwaterbodies andshorelines, with the usual reflections and FS water effects, are present! Many flightsimmers may tend to shy away from trying it because it appears atfirst to require too much setup. This really isn't the case.
Onceyou'vedone the initial setup you're always only two clicks away from flyingreal life photo based ground textures anywhere on Earth wherethere is good online coverage available at the mapservers that TP is configured to use.Because of EULA issues concerning the use of online map texturesthe ProxyUser.ini file is not configured by default to direct itselftothe online map sources, so we as 'End Users' must thereforeconfigure it. So to make it even easier, I willsupply a pre-configured ProxyUser.ini fileheretoget you going. You should only have to edit this file if you want tochange mapservers, or experiment with the increased resolution levels availablein FSX.The rest of the setup isn't that tough at all, and anyonecan be upandgoinginamatterof minutesby followingthefive simplesteps outlined below.
It's not as complicated as it looks. Whenyou have the time I HIGHLY RECOMMEND youread the entire It's chock full of valuable information and tips.HOWFAST DO TILES LOAD, AND HOW FAST CAN I FLY?Increasingthe ground tile loading speeds while flying has been the major challengein the evolution of TileProxy. The program must download and convertthousands of JPG's on the run, convert them into bitmaps and loadthem into FS as you fly. Tile loading speeds may vary greatly dependingon avarietyof factors includingyour PChardwareand internetconnection speed, and most importantly, how high a resolution levelyou are requesting TP to download. Each increased resolution levelincreasesthe numberof tiles requested by the program exponentially. Balancing this 'bottleneck'with the power of your system is the key to getting satisfactory results. With previous versions of TP Beta in FSX, speeds of morethan 80-100 knots, would 'outrun' thetexture loading rather quickly, causing recurrent blurries.
Now, thankstoChristian's brilliant programming, if you have a Dual Coreor better machine, the latest (Beta 8) version of TileProxy enjoysfaster tile loading in FSX than previous versions. Speedsof up to 150, 200 and even 300+ knots have been reported by users using very fastmachines with robust hardware and speedy internet connections. Depending on these various factors, yourperformance may vary.DOESTILEPROXY CHANGE MY FS INSTALLATION SO I CANNOT RETURN TO MY DEFAULTCONFIGURATION?No, not fundamentally,if youIf you choose to fly normally (i.e. Without TileProxy active) you cansimply boot FS without starting TP first and fly with all default scenery, autogen, etc. But TileProxy does ask if you wish to alter your FSX.cfgand FS9.cfg filesso as to maximizetileloadingperformanceand graphicswhenusing TP and I recommend you accept them. These changes, though minor, are described andare mostly changes to theadjustable sliders in the FSX user interface display settings, but afew are not, and may cause minor differences in the way your defaulttextures are displayed, soit's agood idea to backup yourFSX and FS9 CFG files before installing theprogram.
Then, If you experience differences in default groundtexture behavior because of the minor tweaks TP adds to your.cfgfile, you can of course just switch tothe defaultCFG file you've backed up.(Personally, afterusingTileProxyI cannotgo back to flying with default groundtexturessoit hasn'tbeenan issue.)Also, theFS9 scenery.cfg isbacked up at install and TP world scenery areas are added to it. See for more details.Shouldyou choose to uninstall TileProxy, there's a handy uninstallerrightinthe programsmenuthatwill removethe program entirely.MANYTHANKS TO THE AUTHOR.has done a great job of creating and programming TileProxy, works tirelessly to perfect and improve upon it, has spentuntold hours helping many users on the forum with adviceand help, and has, without the slightest financial reward, succeededin offering us a truly revolutionaryway to enjoy FS.
Through his exuberant work, VFR enthusiastsin every corner of the global Flight Simming Communitycan at last experience the true meaning of 'As RealAs It Gets'. ThanksCB!Tileproxy Setup Tutorial:Readyto go? Lets see if I can walk you through quickly settingit up right. It's really only5 simple steps. Forgive me if it seems a bit wordy butthe extra information herein is intended to be as thoroughas possible, to avoid any misunderstandings, potentialproblems and the like, so don'tbe discouraged, it's pretty much a piece of cake. Thisshould get yougoing.
BEFOREINSTALLATION: Pleaseread the following steps carefully, you will save yourself a lotof headaches later.Itis essential that youhave a reasonably high speed internet connection to run TileProxy.A 2 Mbit/s internet connection or faster is recommended. Attemptingto useTP with anything near a 56k dial-up connection speed is mostly a 'nogo' proposition.Duringinstall TPbacks up your original.cfg files, and then alters a few settingsin them to improve TP performance, but restassured, shouldyou choose to uninstall TP in the future, theTP unistaller restores your original FSX.cfg and FS9.cfg totheir original state. You can always fly without TP engaged andstill enjoy the FSX and FS9 default scenery as usual, but ifyou experience slightly different performance dueto the minor changes theTP installermakes, you'll have the backups on hand. For more informationon back up file locations, and a list of the.cfg changes TP makes, seeWindowsVista Users: Whatever version of Vista You're runing it's recommended you disable the UserAccount Control (UAC) as outlined. That said, though tileProxyseems to function well with Vista, some usershave reported a few kooky problems, and a few just could not getit to work, period.
Some of these problems may originate in certain versions of Vista (64) requiring 'signed drivers' which TP currently does not boast. Searching the for answers to your specific symptoms if you have problems is probably the easiest way to get specific answers.WindowsXP users: You should have at least installed, as thedriver builds on the Filter Manager which is partof XP SP2 only. SP3 is OK too. Is also a minimum requirement.FSXusers: You should haveat least the installed, as TileProxy has been integratedto work best with it and successive versions.Step1.
DOWNLOAD and INSTALL The Latest Version of TILEPROXY (TileproxyBeta8Nov16.zip)atthe download page.A. Openthe downloaded zip file and start the installation by double clickingthe 'TileproxyInstaller.exe' and follow the prompts. You should accept the installer's default location (in the FSXroot folder) for the main 'TileProxy' program folder. If you donot have FSX installed then direct the installer to placetheinstallationin your FS9rootfolder.B. At the 'Install Options Page' theinstaller will then ask you to confirm where you wish toinstall two other folders. They are the 'TileProxy PhotorealWorld' folder (the convertedbitmaps FS uses) and the 'Cache' folders(the downloaded JPG's from the map servers). If you choose the default locations specified in the installer at 'C:ProgramFilesMicrosoft Games' you can move on to Step C below. To Use A Custom Cache Location: Some people prefer to place these folders on another drive to prevent fragmentation of their OS drives.
This is recommended, but not manditory. If you prefer to use an external drive or another location other than the default location specified above.C. Continue on with the install. Irecommend you accept ALL the default graphics settings duringinstall, especially the radio button for the FSX 'TerrainResolution' of1.1 meters/pixel for FSX.
Higher resolutionsare experimentalat this time (see Tip 4 of ' Tipsand Troubleshooting' below) andcan bog down even very robust machines. You can changeall of thesesettingsanyway ata latertimein theProxyUser.ini file if you wish to experiment with different settings.D.Whenfinished you will find a new group of TileProxy shortcuts in your Start Menu. Familiarizeyourself with them. There are links to start TP, clean yourTP World folder, a Cache Manager application and more. Moreinformation on these maybe foundin the.Step2.
Download my PRE-CONFIGURED (Beta8) PROXYUSER.ini FILEat. Latest ProxyUser.ini Update: June 14th, 2010Changes Made: Map Service 1 version is now up to 473.Map Service 3 remains at 1.9Whydo you need this file?
TheProxyUser.ini file is the heartof TP and contains most of the configuration informationthat TileProxy usesto functionproperly, set LOD parameters, water mask parameters, anddeterminewhichmap service is to be used. Because of EULA issues, the TP ProxyUser.iniis not configured to operate by default without a few simple modifications(the map server URL's). The link above contains two completely'ready to go'.ini files (one each for FS9 and FSX) that will haveyouupandrunningin a flash. (We update this file every so often due to map service updates, the last notation of which may be found to the right of the download link above.)Important: If you decided you'd like your Cache folders on another driveinstead oftheir default locationyou'll need to edit a few entries in the ProxyUser.inifile:.
PUT THE PROXYUSER.INI FILE IN THE TILEPROXY ROOT FOLDERNow, simplyplace one ofthe ProxyUser.ini files (for theFS version you want to fly, i.e. FS9 or FSX) in the main TileProxyrootfolder.Backupthe original if you wish. I've included both versions because theydiffer slightly the way they're configured. You'llneed to switch them out of the TP root folder if you decide toswitch FS versions, so keep copies of each on hand.If you installed TP in your FSX root folder thelocation to place theProxyUser.ini fileis:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft FlightSimulatorXTileProxyIf you do not use FSX and instead installed TileProxy in your FS9 root folder then of course the default location would be:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9TileProxy Step4. CONFIGURE THE PROXYUSER.INI FILE TO USE YOUR DESIRED ONLINEMAP SERVICEImportant Update : At one time TP supported 4 Map Services.
Map service 2 (Google Maps) is no longer supported by TP Beta 8, this tutorial, or TP author Christian Buchner and has thus been removed from the ProxyUser.ini file some time ago. In addition, Map Service #4 (Ask Maps) now appears to be utilizing Map Service #1 (MSN Virtual Earth) as their satellite texture provider, thus effectively making it a moot choice, or the same as choosing Service 1. This effectively now reduces the possible maps services TP can use to TWO, i.e. Map Services 1 (MSN Virtual Earth) and Service 3 (Yahoo Maps). Be sure then to configure your ProxyUser.ini file to utilize one of these two remaining services.Beforeyou fly, you'll want to check to make sure the geographic area you intendto fly is well represented with reasonably sharp texture resolutionand natural looking aerial orsatellite color.
My INI files are currently pre-configuredto use as thetextureserver (YahooMaps has very good resolutionand color consistent coverageofmost of the continental USA and many other locations abroad),so if you've verified your areahas goodcoverageatYahooMapsyou can skip this stepand go right to Step5 andget to flying!Ifyour not sure, takea moment and do a brief online reconnaissance to find whichmap service bestcovers thearea you wish to fly.You can then make the appropriate edit to the ProxyUser.inifile and TP will use your preferred map service. To check yourlocation's coverage, here are linksto the 3 services TP can use. MSN VIRTUAL EARTH at YAHOOMAPS atASK MAPS at (now apparently moot.see note above)letsyou compare the first 2 services in one handy browser window. Again, the pre-configured.ini file supplied here is already set touse Yahoo Maps as the online service, so if that's your choice, no modification to the.ini file is needed.Ifyou'd like to change map servers: Step5.
Beforestarting anything youshould disable your virussoftware and any activefirewalls. I can't emphasize this enough. Theseoften stop tiles from loading formany users.2.
Importantand Useful'Monitoring'Tip: Whenusing TP it's best to start FS in 'windowed' moderatherthanfullscreensoyou can keepaneye onthe TPloadingscreenincase of errors.Tostart FS inwindowedmodebootintoFSfirst (like normal, i.e. Without TP engaged), go towindowedmode( ViewMenu:uncheckFullScreen),andthenshutitdownthatway.Thenitwillbootagaininwindowedmoderatherthanfullscreen.Thiswayyou canmonitortheTPDOSwindowtoseehowmanytileareloadingpersecondandbeawareifany errorsarebeinggenerated.Alsobeforestartingup,it'srecommendedyoureadthetipsoutlinedinthe'TipsandTroubleshooting'sectionbelow.Readyto go?A. Start TileProxy from the START ALL PROGRAMS TILE PROXY STARTTILEPROXY menu link, and wait for TileProxy to Boot up (ina DOS window). It will generate some lines of text and then stabilize, indicating it's ready to go.Important Step for FSX users: You will only need to do this once.
If you installed Beta 8 over a previous version of TP you will need to place the new scenery entry entitled 'WorldLOD 8' below your 'world0000' entry in your scenery library BEFORE you load a flight. After checking that it is in this location, and/or moving it there, then proceed to loading your flight as outlined in the next step.B. Thenboot FS and load a flight. Now wait a while. Depending on whichversion of FS you're using it may take 5-15 or more minutestodownloadall the textures from the internet and load them into FS (longerusually for FSX than FS9). The FS loading bar will slow at certain places and seem to stall when tiles begin to download. This is normal.
If you've started FS in 'windowed' mode so you can see the LOD levels filling out in the TileProxy window you're on your way! Go wash thedishes, walk the dog, whatever. If you'veconfigured everythingcorrectlyit shouldload your flight soon enough.SOMETIPS and TROUBLESHOOTING:TIP1 - FPS Limiter vs. Performance! This is Important to Know and Utilize! In FSX, The LOWER yourFPS limiter is set the better TileProxy performs. 12-18 FPS isrecommended. In FS9, conversely, the HIGHER your FPSis set the better TileProxy Performs. Setting the FPS slider to 'Unlimited' isrecommended.TIP 2 - TileLoading Speed IssuesIncreasingthe ground tile loading speeds while flying has been the majorchallenge in the evolution ofTileProxy. Tile loading speeds may varygreatlydependingon a varietyof factors includingyourPChardwareand internetconnectionspeed, and how high a resolutionlevel you are attempting to download.
With previous versionsof TP Betain FSX, speeds of more than 80-100knots, would leave you 'outrunning' thetexture loading rather quickly, causing recurrent blurries. Now, thanks to Christian'sbrilliantprogramming,if youhave a Dual Core machine, this latest (Beta 8) versionof TileProxy enjoys fastertile loading in FSX thanpreviousBeta versionsofTileProxy. Still, If youfind tiles are not loadingas fast as you fly, eitherdecrease your airspeed, pauseoccasionally to allowthe textureloading to 'catch-up',or decrease the resolution one level byloweringthe 'maxlod='.inivalue by one factor. Alternatively, you can alsoswitch over to FS9, which, though lowerin tileresolution (4.75 pixels/m)may perform more swiftly, allowingfor faster flight.Remember though to switch tothe FS9 ProxyUser.ini file beforedoingso!TIP3 - TryThe Moving MapTileProxyBeta 7 includes a 'Moving Map' thatdisplays tile radius and resolution levels asyou fly. This function has caused occasionally crashes in FSXfor some users, especially when attempting to switch to fullscreen.
I've therefore disabled the DX9 'Hooking' techniquein the FSX and FS9 ProxyUser.ini file I've supplied here to minimizehasslesin getting thingsup and running for new users. Ifyou'd liketo try the moving map to seeif you experience crashes edit these three lines in the FSX inifile:'enablehooking=No' changeto 'enablehooking=Yes'enabledx9hook=No' change to 'enabledx9hook=Yes'enablemovingmap=No' change to 'enablemovingmap=Yes'TIP4 - Trying out the 60cm and 30cm Super High Resolutions inFSXFor somesystem gobbling eye-candy, if you have a fast computer with robusthardwareand you'd like totry out the new high resolutionlevels available in FSX:TIP5 - 'Help,I've Got All Black Tiles!' Thiswas sometimesseen problem with Beta 7 and FS9. If you experience this problem with Beta 8 try this handywork around:Ifthat doesn't work (or if your problem is in FSX), check to seeif you have left TWO sources selected in the ProxyUser.ini insteadthe required ONE as outlined in step4 above.Shut down TP and FS, then comment outtheextraonewith a '#' sign, and repeatstep 5 and you may be OK.Ifthat doesn't work, shut down andreboot TileProxy and FS again and see if the problem clears. Thishasworked for some users. A few blacktiles are also an occasional and randomissue while flying, and the problem seemsto vary from rig to rig. Also make sure the area you areflying in is covered with tiles of good resolutioninthefirst placeby checking the area first at themap service your using's on line web site.
If not try changingto another map service with betterhigh level resolution and coverage.Moreinformation is inthe andvarious posts in the.TIP6 - Use 'LevelMapping' toincrease the diameter of high resolution areas around your aircraft.TP load map textures in decreasing rings of resolution around your aircraft, much like FS default textures load. Level Mapping is a fantastic way to increase the area of high resolution tiles in the immediate vicinity around your aircraft by forcing the the next lowest level to load the textures from the level just above it. It's very easy to implement and involves a few simple changes to the ProxyUser.ini file. One must be careful though not to overdue it or you may bring your flight Simulator to a standstill.
Just posting this in case down the road someone finds a way around this. Thus far, at least with Windows 8 x64 Pro RTM. I've yet to be able to get the tileproxy.sys driver to register.
I've done the reboot with disable driver enforcement and also tried the win 7 overrider (which doesnt work in windows 8). I've also tried using bcedit to manually enable test mode then run the tileproxy setup with the driver install portion checked. In any case it just doesnt work in Windows 8. At least in my testing so far.If anyone finds a way around this issue, please share. I've managed to get tileproxy working in Windows 8 x64 Pro.For me success was the following (not sure if you need the bcedit, but it cant hurt):Now for me, I had to uninstall tileproxy after the failed first attempts (and remove the tileproxy.sys file from c:windowssystem32drivers).(you can backup the tileproxy folder and cache folder location if you like before uninstalling)Run this command from a command line (admin mode):bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLEINTEGRITYCHECKSbcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ONThen from metro, control panel. Advanced Startup. Choose the option that takes you to the startup mode that lets you disable driver signing enforcement, safemode etc.Reboot.The menu appears, press 7 to disable driver sign. Enforcement. Now I reran setup.
You might still get a warning about tileproxy.sys and driver enforcement but thats ok.I then set proxyuser.exe to run as admin (always) (uac is on in my case).Run proxyuser.exe Ready for takeoff! The downside so far with windows 8. There is no way to permanently turn off enforcement. The old tool from windows 7 doesnt work.
Fs2crew pmdg md-11 edition fs9/fsx combo pack free. Each reboot has to be an advanced startup reboot for now. Hopefully a workaround will be found in the near future. For fsx utility tileproxy beta 8.
To install in win 8 64 bit.#1Run these commands from an elevated command prompt (Win + x is nice for this): use cmd for this and right clickrun as adminbcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLEINTEGRITYCHECKSbcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ONReboot and you’re good. Take note there are two (2) D‘s in DDISABLE.Now install whatever you like. If you ever want to revers what you did, just run the opposite: do not run this before your finish tileproxy installation. This is to revert to original value. Let the first 2 codes be run then, run below codes if you want to get back to its original state and only after all installation procedures.bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptionsbcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF.
#2 - Using Regedit ( some steps are repetition1. Open Registry Editor.2. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:HKEYLOCALMACHINE SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem3. Locate the following value (DWORD): EnableLUA and give it a value of 0.Note: As always, before making changes to your registry you should always make sure you have a valid backup.
In cases where you're supposed to delete or modify keys or values from the registry it is possible to first export that key or value(s) to a.REG file before performing the changes.1. Close Registry Editor. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply. In order to re-enable UAC just change the above value to 1.#3.
Advanced system start up.Move cursor to right bottom, click pc settings. Click general from left side tabs, click adv start up tab.
Follow the prompt, until yo u get to a screen where it says disable unsigned drivers. Its not tough, for more info if you need call me,. Or the man who showed me, Peter from UK. For further details on this. So, you will be pressing 7 or f7. To get started up from that screen,.
Remember it will be back on, if you reboot the system. So install tileproxy then and there before rebooting. Then, close down all firewalls. Make sure, all are closed, public, private. Its important.Close down antivirus.Never notify the, uac. Controls. Then you are good to go for installing tileproxy. In case anything, people are there to offer their knowledge. Working great on Windows 8.1!However some observations, although may be specific to my computer, so please do not assume the same for you:1. I only used one 'D' in 'DISABLE.'
- makes me wonder if required?bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLEINTEGRITYCHECKSbcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ONIf required, was only 'needed' for the installation, can be reversed by (if you forgot to back up;-):bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLEINTEGRITYCHECKSbcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF2. Registy tweakYes - this is required if want to run FSX with TileProxy. I set back to '1' if doing a few days non-FSX, or planning to install other software.3.
Advanced set-upYes - again required each time you log in for a FSX session.4. Additional note #1:I did not have to disable any of the following: anti-virus, firewalls for TileProxy to work fine.5. Additional note #2:I also would be wary of installing Ready Driver Plus.

Hey I know this isn't supposed to be a support forum, but no one on avsim was replying after a week.I've used tileproxy occasionaly for many years, and I know that there are many different types of errors. But after working for hours to get it working again on my new Windows 10 machine, i've finally gotten to the place where grids with 'circles' in them appear on the terminal window. Silent wav file for 1 second download. And, it notices when I go into fsx and out of it again. It says 'simulation started!' Everything seems to be fine. No error messages in the tileproxy window.Except, in FSX, there are no changes.

The game loads waaay too fast for it to be comprehending the tileproxy scenery. It's almost instant, it should take a few minutes at least.
There's the ugly white default scenery everywhere.I've tried all three cache services, and the one that works is no. 1 (virtual earth). I've done all the disabling of driver signatures and everything. All of that is working fine. How can I make FSX read the scenery that Tileproxy is producing?FSX - Steam EditionThank you!!. Send me a screen of your Scenery library, worldxxxx should be on top (but below airports iirc), under that you have worldlod8 and then the rest.Once I also managed to get the folder names wrong.
What you can do is start FSX and TP so that it is downloading and manually pin-point the folder that is getting bigger. (Don't look at the last-modified time, you've probably chosen to disable the stamping when installing TP).
The parent folder should be named Tileproxy Photoreal World. Cross check this with the Tileproxy config and most importantly the absolute folder paths in Scenery library. Seems like the installation didn't go as expected. Your Scenery library should look something like, I am pretty sure this was done automatically. Anyways, we can fix that manually.
To add an area you have to to not keep zooming in. This happens on Win7 and higher. (Ignore the fact that he goes into Addon scenery, Tileproxy should NOT be there)It will take some time adding that up manually tho.
You might want to open the scenery.cfg file in a text editor and add those lines manually, or use a tool of some sort.I am now on X-Plane and P3D for over a year so I am just recalling stuff from memory. As to how you find the actual Tileproxy folder - you start on your disk drive (usually C), and you keep checking the sizes of the folders (Right click, properties) after 10 seconds again, if it changes you open that folder and do the same here until you find the correct Tileproxy folders. It shouldn't be that hard if you know where you installed TP, it's more of a check to see if things are alright. You can then try to add the worldxxxx folders manually in FSX. WorldLOD8 should be below these and then you have the rest. You could also redo the whole installation for the sake of it.I don't know where you installed it, but it is not recommended to install Tileproxy anywhere in Program Files or the FSX folder, just place it to the root directory of your disk like (except it would be C: not T:) so that we at least know where it really is. This would create a 'Tileproxy photoreal World' folder in C: and that folder should have those Worldxxxx folders in it (I guess). The second line is your cache folder, FSX doesn't need to see that, but it needs to be set up correctly in the Tileproxy folder instead.EDIT: I also don't know where you downloaded Tileproxy, but there is an update that you might like (multicore support) availableEDIT2: Yep, the Tileproxy installer should modify your scenery library automatically.EDIT3: Scenery.cfg should be in C:ProgramDataMicrosoftFSXEDIT4: Nevermind, you have the Steam edition. It might be somewhere else.
I don't really know. That might also be the reason why the installer failed to edit it. ↓TLDR↓Alright, the Tileproxy installer tried to modify it in C:ProgramDataMicrosoftFSXscenery.cfg but it really is in C:ProgramDataMicrosoftFSX- SEscenery.cfgVery easy way to fix it is to create the FSX folder, copypaste your current scenery.cfg from FSX-SE. Reinstall Tileproxy so that it edits the scenery.cfg you pasted in the 'fake' FSX folder and then paste the edited scenery.cfg from FSX to FSX-SE and rewrite the original (backup it if you wish)Then check it in FSX if it looks correct and make sure LOD8 is lower than the xxxx entries. That migh need manual adjustment.
RECOMMENDED:OblyTile, the fantastic free software that allows you create custom tiles on the Start screen of Windows 8/8.1 doesn’t support the latest Windows 10 operating system yet. The tool was really helpful for users to customize the Start screen by creating their own tiles to quickly access files, programs, and URLs.Some programs available on the Store app although have been updated for Windows 10, they don’t allow you create custom tiles for desktop programs.Fortunately, a has just released a free app to create custom tiles on Windows 10’s Start menu with ease. TileCreatorTileCreator is the OblyTile for Windows 10. With TileCreator app you can pin images, files, folders, and traditional desktop programs to the Start menu of Windows 10. Like OblyTile, it gives you the liberty to choose tile background color and text color.
Although TileCreator can be installed from the Store using the link provided at the end of this article, there is a catch. The TileCreator app that you installed from the Store will not support creating tiles for desktop applications out of the box.Because Windows 10 doesn’t allow desktop applications to pin tiles to the Start menu (this is the reason why OblyTile doesn’t work in Windows 10) and Store apps don’t have the capability to run programs from the local computer, the developer has released another utility called Tile Creator Proxy that you need to install alongside the Tile Creator app. How to install and use TileCreator on Windows 10If you are confused and not sure and not sure how to get it working, please follow the given below instructions.Step 1: Navigate to Windows Store page to install the free TileCreator app.Step 2: Once the app installed, you need to download another small utility called Tile Creator Proxy. Click to download Tile Creator Proxy executable.Step 3: Next, run the downloaded Tile Creator Proxy with administrator rights.
To do so, right-click on TileCreatorProxy.exe file and then click Run as administrator.Step 4: Next, open up drive where Windows 10 is installed. You will see a folder named TileCreator.Step 5: Double-click on TileCreator folder and open the file named ApprovedApps with Notepad application.Step 6: Here, you need to type in the name (key) and full path to the program that you want to pin to the Start menu. After adding program names and their paths, save the file.Step 7: Finally, launch Tile Creator app, enter a name, select a picture, tile color, and text color.Step 8: In the Approved Apps Key field, type in the name of the app that you have already added to the ApprovedApps file in Step5.Click Pin Tile button to see the newly added tile on the Start. If you can’t see the newly added tile, please sign out and then sign in again. And if you’re getting Please enter in an Approved App Key (Letters Only) error when you click Pin Tile button, it’s likely because you are trying to pin a tile without adding it to the ApprovedApps file or have used a special character in its name.Note that TileCreator is only for Windows 10 and doesn’t support Windows 8 or 8.1. If you’re on 8/8.1, please use the OblyTile software. So, I tested it.
It seems to work okay, sure it does the tiles fine but the BAD PART is emulators dont work with it.the zsnes emulator is the ONLY one that it kept its settings with. When you tile epsxe and gens emulator the settings you once had are GONE forever. But for some reason it allowed me to keep zsnes working perfectly. I can’t understand it. So this thing is a bloody joke.
I hate it for that very reason, the fact we’re not allowed to pin tiles with programs that have preset settings.it ERASES the settings. So sure, programs with no settings at all like paint and some others work fine I am sure. But when it comes to complicated programs like emulators its like a disease for this.it can’t handle their epic settings.
Installer Tileproxy 8 1
So, ya I been testing some stuffand so far I hate it.OUTraged says. Works Perfectly! Except one problem: when I pin a tile, I cannot resize it to wide or large.
Install Tileproxy In P3d
Is this inherent to the ”problem” that only apps and not shortcuts or folder or executables can be resized to wide and large? Would be great if this method could make large and wide tiles too. Otherwise: perfect!! No slow app launch (though TileCreatorProxy seems to be started when you click the tile, but its hardly noticible and it doesnt stay open, no junk, just a fraction of a second delay difference from a normal shortcut) so its exactly wat we want!! Thank you for making this, its unbeleavable that microsoft does not have this build in from the start.
Especially since they made sure your shortcuts etc pinned to the start menu look fucking ugly as hell, while the only purpuse of tiles and start menu etc to me is for aestetics. Well that failed., thank you for letting me pick my own way to make the start menu visually pleasent to look at:).Dwayne says.
